Solutions to the Problem "Catalyst Control Centre Host Application has stopped responding"
Hi,
1. What happens when you try to open the programs?
2. Which browser are you using?
3. Do you remember making any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
Method 1: Reinstall Graphics card driver
The error for the Catalyst Control Center is related to the Graphics card installed on your computer, you may check with the manufacturer if there are any updated drivers for the graphics card that needs to be installed to take care of the issue.
ATI Support link:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
You may try to uninstall and reinstall the graphics card and check if that helps.
a) Click on Start menu, type in
devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manager.
b) The Device Manager will then display a list of installed devices in the right pane of the console.
c) Expand the category for Display Adapter.
d) Right-click the device and select
Uninstall.
e) A dialog box will pop up asking you to confirm ‘Uninstall’.
Click
OK to proceed.
Note: While you are uninstalling the network adapter, make sure that you select the option to delete the driver software as well.
f) Restart the computer and check if things are in place.
Method 2: Clean Boot
Follow the steps in the link below to set the computer to ‘Clean boot’ state.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the troubleshooting is over, do not forget to reset the computer to normal startup.
Follow step 7 in the above-mentioned article.
Method 3: Fix your hijacked web browser
http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/browser-hijacking.aspx
You can download Microsoft Safety scanner, which provides on-demand scanning, and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.
It works with your existing antivirus software.
Refer to the link provided below to download Microsoft Safety scanner on the system.
http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note:
The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded.
To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
Disclaimer:
Any data files that are infected may be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.
Hope it helps.
